Treasurer's Office Would Get Facelift

Animal control will get a needed boost from the Sandoval County Sheriff's Department if the County Commission approves a proposed $35.7 million preliminary budget for fiscal 2003-2004.

Another expected winner in the budgeting process is the Treasurer's Office, which is pegged for a facelift and a new position.

Sheriff John Paul Trujillo said he is working on steps to drastically increase animal control coverage and response times. He said animal control operations will become more effective under his department.

"What we intend to do is send a sheriff deputy with the animal control officer on calls," Trujillo said Wednesday. "This will ensure that there isn't any trouble with enforcement issues. …
