Going through the bedroom door posed the biggest challenge for Albuquerque author Carolyn Meyer.

The author said she has avoided the topic of sex in her 49 other books because they are fiction and nonfiction books for young adults.

That changed when her editor asked Meyer, "Why do you always stop at the bedroom door? You have to go through it."

Meyer, 67, goes through the door in her first published adult novel "Brown Eyes Blue." She will sign and discuss the book Thursday at Bookworks.

It was quite a struggle for Meyer, who has established herself as an author of young adult and children's books, to add sex to her novels. …
