Espanola Schools Reduce Number of Expected Job Cuts.(Journal North)

Fewer jobs than expected may be cut to balance next year's budget for Espanola Public Schools, officials report.

The district, which faced a $1.7 million deficit last week, now needs to cut 45 teaching and support staff positions, Superintendent Pancho Guardiola said Monday.

Last week, school leaders discussed cutting 53 positions, including teachers, instructional assistants, cooks and custodians.

Four teaching jobs have been added to the budget, Guardiola said. …
