Rest of Cast Good But Not as Strong

The pedigree of "110 in the Shade" is impeccable. The story is based on "The Rainmaker," a play and film written by N. Richard Nash in the 1950s. The music and lyrics are by Harvey Schmidt and Tom Jones who also combined on the beloved musical "The Fantasticks" that ran forever off Broadway. The production at the Adobe Theater is a showcase for the talents and charms of Lorri Oli who plays the central character. If the rest of the cast can rise to her level of performance, the remainder of the run will be fine.

The story is old-fashioned and rather demeaning to women. …
