Junkyard Is Setting For Waste Theme

Sarah Elizabeth Waff, pursuing a Master of Arts in dance history at the University of New Mexico, was asked to create site-specific choreography for Professor Bill Evans' Creative Investigations class.

She chose a junkyard in Edgewood as a site, and based her concert around the problems of consumerism and waste.

The theme was tailor-made for Bob Audette's junkyard, or as he prefers to call it, "re-utilization center." Audette said his desire is not to collect junk, but to preserve history and decrease landfill waste.

The audience traveled around the yard to several stations with the master of ceremonies Tulula Trash, played by Paige Montgomery. …
