Foundation offers tours of historic homes in Santa Fe

The seven properties owned by the Historic Santa Fe Foundation, a 42-year-old, non-profit organization dedicated to researching and maintaining historic properties, will be open to the public free-of-charge during an annual tour May 11.

The tour provides an opportunity to walk through homes in Santa Fe that have been restored and maintained without harming the historic fabric of the properties. Since the majority of them are private residences, most of the properties are only open to the public one day a year.

"The tour has been going on for more than 30 years," says foundation executive director Elaine Bergman. "We will have people at each property who are skilled at answering a variety of questions about the homes. One of the wonderful aspects of this tour is that the properties are located throughout the city in different neighborhoods, so residents can get a broad sense of structural development in Santa Fe. …
