Bowlin's profits up for year.(Business Outlook)

Albuquerque's Bowlin Travel Centers, which runs 11 roadside gas stations and restaurants in New Mexico and Arizona, has reported that its profits were up for its most recent fiscal year, despite a general decline in freeway travelers.

Bowlin, which is traded publicly on the Bulletin Board, said in its recent annual report that the company had earnings of $507,000 on revenues of a little more than $22.1 million for fiscal year 2003, which ended January 31.

The company reported earnings of $173,000 for its 2002 fiscal year. Revenues in the previous year were $23.2 million.

Bowlin reports it was able to increase profits by increasing its sales through an incentive program for employees and because of an overall cheaper cost of goods. …
