In the 1920s and '30s, she was one half of the so-called "golden couple" that was F. Scott and Zelda Fitzgerald. But by 1948, Zelda Fitzgerald lay dead in a mental hospital, her marriage long over and career as a writer in shambles. What happened?

"Bye Bye Blackbird" unravels the sad story of one of the nation's most famous and most tragic literary figures.

The one-woman show was written by Willard Simms, who dug beyond Zelda Fitzgerald's glamorous persona, said director Laurie Thomas of FUSION Theatre Company, which will stage the production Thursday through June 1.
