State Union Claims Lack Proof, Alternative.(Final)(Editorial)

The union that represents more than 8,000 state government workers has petitioned the Personnel Board to scrap a 2-year-old restructuring of the classified employee system.

The administrator for Council 10 of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees claims the new system New Mexico Human Resources 2001 is unfair.

The system's performance-based evaluation of employees, according to Cuauhtemoc "Temo" Figueroa, "leads to raises based on favoritism and not quality of work."

There's a gigantic fly in Figueroa's ointment, however: He hasn't offered an alternative.
