Motive for Investigator's Bank Robberies Unclear.(Final)

Whatever led an investigator with the Attorney General's Office to rob a bank and threaten police with a gun Friday remained a mystery Saturday.

Albuquerque Police Department and FBI investigators said they had no new information about why 50-year-old Karen Yontz would commit crimes that would lead officers to shoot and kill her.

Yontz was suspected of robbing the New Mexico Bank and Trust on Albuquerque's Northwest side Friday morning. Police caught up with her shortly afterward outside the Whataburger at Osuna and Jefferson.

After repeatedly holding a handgun to her head and dropping it to her side, Yontz pointed the weapon at officers who then shot and killed her. …
