Espanola Schools May Lose Leader.(Journal North)

The leader of Espanola Public Schools has applied for another job in northern New Mexico.

Superintendent Pancho Guardiola has applied for the top job at Cuba Independent Schools, he said Friday.

Guardiola declined to provide many details about his relationship with the five-member Espanola Board of Education.

"We're on good terms ... We're communicating. We have a good working relationship," Guardiola said. "It's more in the area of differences, in my estimation, of philosophies."

Board member Joe Guillen said the body is split on supporting Guardiola.

"I think it would be a step backward for the district if he left," Guillen said. …
