Students at the New Mexico School for the Deaf celebrate the holiday with dance

Her eyes bright and hair in a bun, Zsa Zsa Garcia celebrated an early Cinco de Mayo with a Mexican dance that brought applause from other New Mexico School for the Deaf students.

"I started as a small child, and I've been dancing all along," the eighth-grader said through an interpreter. "I was seven years old."

A new student this fall from Lomas del Rey, Mexico, Garcia took a leadership role in the school's Hispanic Club and choreographs dances for other students in the club.

This is the second year NMSD has held a Cinco de Mayo day to encourage Hispanic students to take pride in their culture. …
