Rosa Chavez Sanchez, one of the state's oldest citizens at 111, was still going out dancing and betting at horse races when she was 103.

She also liked to sip a mixed drink while playing bingo.

Her secret to a long life? A lot of love, according to her son, Paul Sanchez.

Sanchez died April 23 of old age at an Albuquerque rest home. She would have been 112 on Aug. 20.

A Mass was celebrated April 26 at San Felipe de Neri Church. A poem by her great-grandchildren, "Cuz you R the One," was printed in the funeral program. It said, in part:

"Cuz you R the One that taught us how to love and care, and as we go along, we'll know you'll always be there. …
