Ralph Johnson


Memorial service for Ralph Eldon Johnson, 92, former Spokane police chief, will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-North.

Mr. Johnson, who lived in Spokane until last year, died Monday.

He graduated from North Central High School in 1928 and in 1934 married Gladys Schubbe.

Mr. Johnson joined the Spokane Police Department in 1937. He was appointed chief of police in 1957 and retired in 1962.

Mr. Johnson went on to work as a bail bondsman and dealt in real estate. He was a member of the El Katif Shrine and was secretary of the Widow and Orphans Fund of the El Katif Temple from 1960 to 1980.

His wife died in 1989.

Survivors include a son, Bernard Johnson of Fountain Hills, Ariz.; a daughter, Janet Boyd-Patterson of Seattle; a sister, Margaret Hoffman of Spokane; a brother, Howard Johnson of Vancouver, B.C.; four grandchildren and four greatgrandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children or the Salvation Army.

Lila (Hill) Seebach


Funeral for Lila N. (Hill) Seebach, 84, will be today at 11 a.m. at the Selkirk High School in Ione with interment following at Riverside Cemetery. A dinner reception will immediately follow at the Ione Senior Center. Sherman-Knapp Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Seebach, who was born in Levi, N.M., died Tuesday. She was a 54-year resident of Ione.

She married William Smith in 1937. He died in 1969, and in 1976, she married Bill Seebach.

Survivors include her husband; six sons, Elton, Dean, Dale, Dan and Wesley Smith, all of Ione, and Randy Smith of Lake Goodwin, Wash.; two daughters, Willi Hylton of Packwood, Wash., and Donna Potter of Auburn, Wash.; a sister, Janet McAbee; four stepdaughters, Deb Dawson of Phoenixville, Pa., Carrie Garner of Yelm, Wash., Victoria St. …
