Judge denies ACA's request for commitment from United. (Regional News).(Atlantic Coast Airlines, United Airlines )(Brief Article)

A judge has denied a request by Atlantic Coast Airlines to force United Airlines to declare its intentions regarding its existing contract with ACA as part of the UAL bankruptcy proceedings.

"ACA was trying to get the court to rule a firmer commitment of it as the Express carrier of the future so that they could make decisions on aircraft orders," UAL spokesperson Joe Hopkins said. "We are still negotiating with them and all of our Express carriers to determine a new cost structure."

United intends to use the Chapter 11 bankruptcy process to renegotiate its fee-per-departure service agreements with Regional airlines operating in the United Express feeder program to achieve substantial savings--up to 28% below current costs. …
