Swiss to cut more jobs, services, aircraft. (News Briefs).(Brief Article)

Citing the "enduringly gloomy economic climate and deep crisis" in the global aviation industry, Swiss International Air Lines announced Feb. 25 a "package of emergency measures" including elimination of around 700 positions and the grounding of 20 aircraft--one A32l, two MD-83s and 17 RJs. The actions took effect March 30 and also encompass schedule reductions at swiss bases at Zurich, Geneva, Basel, Bern and Lugano.

Close to 200 cockpit crew, around 200 cabin crew and approximately 300 managers and ground staff will be laid off. …
