Delta Air Lines, Northwest Airlines and Continental Airlines intend to implement their tripartite codesharing alliance at the "earliest possible dare" and will nor accept some of the conditions the US Dept. of Transportation said in a ruling issued Jan. 17 are necessary to satisfy its concerns about competition. The carriers said should DOT bring an enforcement action, they "intend to defend their marketing agreement vigorously." They noted that the alliance was cleared by the Justice Dept. with only a few restrictions, such as that they agree not to codeshare on nonstop competitive routes like those between hubs. …
