British Airways' CitiExpress Regional operation will eliminate its operating bases at Cardiff and Leeds-Bradford and cut 21 routes from its network by March. It also signed a "heads of terms" agreement with Eastern Airways with the intention of transferring its fleet of 12 29-seat Jetstream 41s and associated engineering hangar at Glasgow to the Humberside-based airline. The removal of the Jetstreams is the first part of an accelerated strategy to move to an all-jet regional operation, "which will help improve our operational and financial performance in the coming years," BA GM-UK Business David Evans said.

CitiExpreas will start operating from London City in April--the first time BA has served the Docklands airport--with the launch of routes to Frankfurt, Glasgow and Paris Charles de Gaulle using RJ100s. …
