Embraer inks deal to build RJs in China. (Regional News).(regional jets)

Embraer signed a joint venture agreement to build a production unit in China to manufacture ERJ-135s/-140s/-145s, the smallest members of its family of regional jets. The equity investment in the JV with Harbin Aircraft Industry Ltd. and Hafei Aviation Industry Co. will be $25 million, with Embraer accounting for 51%. The entity will be named Harbin Embraer Aircraft Industry Co. Ltd. and based in Harb in, capital of Heilongjiang Province. It will be responsible for the manufacture, assembly, sale and aftermarker support of the aircraft. China Aviation Industry Corp. II controls the Chinese partners.

"China and Brazil have an enormous potential for cooperation in different fields of interest and we are confident that this is but the first step towards many successful accomplishments in the future," said Embraer President and CEO Mauricio Botelho. …
