Air France Group reported pre-tax profits of [euro]113 million ($115 million) for the fiscal second quarter ended Sept. 30, up 28% over [euro]88 million earned in the 2001 period. However, a [euro]57 million tax charge, not included in results in the year-ago period, cut net income by 35% to [euro]57 million. Operating income before aircraft sales and other disposals rose 85% to [euro]141 million from [euro]76 million. Turnover increased 0.9% to [euro]3.23 billion.

"Our results are still largely positive for this first half-year, despite the pilots' strike whose impact has been estimated at [euro]55 million," said Chairman and CEO Jean Cyril Spinetta, adding that he expects Air France to report improved operating income before aircraft disposals, market conditions permitting," for the year to next March 3l. …
