Japan Airlines reported net income of [yen]33.6 billion ($278.7 million) for the first half through Sept. 30, almost double the prior year's net income of [yen]6.9 billion. Operating revenues fell 1.5% to [yen]858.6 billion. Operating income totaled [yen]28.5 billion, a 26.7% drop from [yen]38.9 billion in the year-ago period. JAL said its results were "affected by the slow recovery of international passenger traffic, notably on the transpacific and Hawaii routes."
