Air Canada reported a third-quarter net profit of C$125 million ($80.1 million) compared to a loss of C$903 million in the year-ago period. On a pre-tax basis and excluding foreign exchange losses, current-period income totaled C$205 million versus a deficit of C$169 million in 2001. Results were "particularly encouraging in the context of the crisis facing the North American airline industry today," declared President and CEO Robert Milton.
