Mesaba strikes deal for Big Sky. (Regional News).(Brief Article)

Mesaba Holdings, parent of Mesaba Aviation, announced an agreement to acquire Billings, Monr.-based Big Sky Transportation Co., parent of Big Sky Airlines, via a cash tender offer of $2.60 per share or approximately $3.5 million subject to the satisfaction of certain conditions. Mesaba Aviation operates as a Northwest Airlink carrier serving 106 cities in 24 states with a fleet of 36 RJ85s and 73 Saab 340s. It carried 5.9 million passengers in 2001 and in its most recent fiscal year ended March 31 it earned $7.8 million on revenue of $417 million. Big Sky, which was founded in 1978, has codeshare relationships with Northwest, America West and Aiaska Air Group subsidiaries Aiaska Airlines and Horizon Air. …
