US Airways rejects tentative agreement with Allegheny pilots. (Regional News).(Brief Article)

US Airways backed out of a tentative agreement that was reached Aug. 11 with the pilots of Regional subsidiary Allegheny Airlines, which operates Dash 8s as a US Airways Express carrier. The pilots are represented by the Air Line Pilots Assn. According to ALPA, the sticking point is a clause in the agreement that would ensure that the contract remains in force even if Allegheny is transferred to another entity.

US Airways' decision to pull our of the agreement led to speculation that the Regional is on the sales block or could be merged with another company subsidiary. "There is certainly a suggestion of that. It looks like they are attempting to protect their interests in the event that occurs," said Global Aviation Associates VP George Hamlin. …
