CCAir poised for shutdown. (Regional News).(Brief Article)

The long and torturous relationship between CCAir and the Air Line Pilots Assn. is in its final chapter as the carrier faces shutdown on Nov. 3. Over the past year, the US Airways Express carrier has lost millions of dollars and was unable to reach a contract acceptable to ALPA.

In late August, a US District Court judge in North Carolina rebuffed efforts by CCAir pilots to enforce a contract they ratified by a 70% margin but that ALPA President Duane Woerth refused to sign, claiming it made too many concessions to management. Court documents state that ALPA representatives repeatedly assured the pilots throughout negotiations that ALPA would accept the new contract.

The ruling left the pilots with little hope of returning to work and ALPA with a victory of sorts over CCAir and its parent company, Mesa Air Group. …
