Equally at home on choppers, whales: Evergreen Air Center has performed maintenance and modification work for most of the major carriers over its 15 years.

Tucson, Ariz.-Evergreen Air Center (EAC) was created in 1975 as the maintenance arm of Evergreen international Aviation, to handle the airline's Electras and C-46s, and helicopters belonging to Evergreen international Helicopters. Today, it is equally at home doing general maintenance on helicopters or 747s. It also serves as a storage facility for aircraft belonging to Evergreen International Airline as well as other airlines, taking advantage of the dry climate of Tucson.

The air center actually is located at Pinal Air Park, Marana, Ariz., about 30 mi. northwest of Tucson. The entire airport is leased by Evergreen and headed by David Fowler, who serves as both president of EAC and overall airport manager.

With Evergreen International greatly reducing its narrowbody fleet and correspondingly increasing its widebody fleet, the air center is expanding its widebody capability-for both first and third-party maintenance. …
