SAS Group earned Sek968 million ($101 million) in the second quarter ended June 30, a dramatic increase from net income of Sekl28 million a year ago, and said it expects "income before tax, excluding capital gains" will he positive for 2002. The carrier attributed the improvement to the success of its 2001 profit-restoration program. Operating revenues jumped 29.4% to Sek17.87 billion owing to currency movements and the acquisition of Braathens and Spanair; excluding these effects, revenues were flat. …
