Korean Air reported net income of 195.4 billion won ($161.9 million) for the first half of 2002, a dramatic reversal from a net loss of 345.9 billion won last year. Operating revenue was up 7% to 2.91 trillion won while operating expenses dropped 1.4% to 2.3 trillion won. EBIT of 102.4 billion won contrasted with a loss of 149.4 billion won in 2001. The airline said rise improvement was the result of steady growth in its passenger and cargo business, continuous restructuring in all business sectots, stabilized jet fuel prices and interest rates and strengthening of the won against the dollar. …
