Perhaps it was Winston Churchill who remarked that "America always does the right thing... after she has tried everything else." We keep waiting for the Transportation Security Administration and its minders in Washington to do the right thing when it comes to implementing airport security. The recently disclosed news that in April a nursing mother traveling with her newborn child out of New York JFK was forced to drink from each of three bottles of expressed milk before being allowed to board her flight does not reassure, although TSA says that policy subsequently was changed.

We would guess that the agency has been watching too many Hollywood movies about fictional South American drug lords. In real life, just about every significant terrorist attack on US citizens and property since 1970 has been perpetrated by persons sharing a common religious and ethnic background. …
