US Airways forms RJ subsidiary. (Regional News).(Brief Article)

US Airways announced a planned expansion of regional jet operations using the Potomac Air corporate entity created during the proposed merger with United Airlines, now to be called MidAdantic Airways. US Airways is seeking reactivation of Potomac Air's operating certificate with the intention that the carrier would become operational this fall. It has been in discussions with RJ manufacturers and is expected to make an equipment decision soon.

Development of MidAtlantic follows the agreement between US Airways and ALPA to increase from 70 to 140 the number of RJs operating in the US Airways Express network. Robert Brayton, a former VP-operations for US Airways subsidiary Allegheny Airlines, has been appointed president of MidAtlantic. …
