UA, pilots reach tentative OK on cost cuts. (News Briefs).(Brief Article)

United Airlines and its pilots, represented by the Air Line Pilots Assn., reached a tentative agreement on a package of cost-saving measures aimed at helping to restore United to financial health. Union leadership was set to review the agreement at press time. The next step will be submission to the rank-and-file for ratification.

The proposal must also be passed by the United board of directors, according to UAL Chairman and CEO Jack Creighton, who said: "If approved, it will result in significant cost reductions for United while providing our pilots with additional opportunities for participation in United's future growth. …
