More CRJs for SkyWest; Q400 receives JAA certification.(Dash Q400 turboprop aircraft)(Brief Article)(Statistical Data Included)

St. George, Utah-based SkyWest Airlines has placed a $470 million order for 20 Bombardier Aerospace 50-seat CRJs to add to its existing fleet of 11. Deliveries will begin in November. SkyWest now has placed 65 firm orders for CRJs plus options on another 55.

The carrier, which feeds passengers to Delta Air Lines at Salt lake City and United Airlines at Los Angeles, is the fourth-largest US Regional, with 1.4 million passengers enplaned during the second quarter of 1999. The SkyWest order brings Bombardier's 1999 CRJ sales to 167; it has sold a total of 612 since the first CRJs were delivered to Lufthansa CityLine and Comair in 1993.

Separately, Bombardier's Dash 8-Q400, a high-speed 66/78-seat turboprop, has received certification by Europe's JAA. …
