American Eagle may serve US Airways.(Brief Article)(Statistical Data Included)

AMR Corp.'s American Eagle is negotiating with US Airways to become its Regional partner in California, replacing Trans States Airlines of St. Louis, Mo., which ended service in the state Dec. 28 as a cost-cutting measure.

The Ft. Worth Star Telegram first reported that American Eagle soon may accept passengers in California on behalf of US Airways. Sources within American Eagle and US Airways Express confirmed that the two sides are looking at a temporary arrangement but added that a permanent relationship was down the road.

Serving multiple masters is an avenue Eagle has taken from time to time. "Clearly, with SkyWest firmly in the United camp in California, US Airways had limited options in terms of potential codesharing partners in the region," said Doug Abbey of AvStat Associates. …
