Belgian Transport Minister Isabelle Durant withdrew an order that would have banned commercial operations at Brussels Zaventem International Airport between 1 a.m. and 5 a.m. beginning in mid-2003 after the government agreed to set up a committee to study the issue of noise at the airport.

In other noise news, the EU Commission threatened to go forward with its ban on the importation and operation of aircraft hushkitted to Stage 3 standards if the US challenges the rule before ICAO, as it has threatened to do. …
