Northwest and Continental Airlines.(Brief Article)

Northwest and Continental Airlines intend to move forward on their proposed domestic alliance and the equity agreement that will give NWA 51% voting control of Continental, despite opposition from the U.S. Dept. of Justice.

NWA Exec. VP-Marketing Michael Levine said the partners expect to generate "bottom line" benefits of $ 100-200 million per year from the partnership.

On Oct. 23, DOJ filed suit to block NWA from purchasing a majority stake in CO. In opposing this transaction, DOJ stated that NWA and CO "are each other's most significant competitors" on seven hub-to-hub city-pairs. …
