Caplan to step down at P&WC.

L. David Caplan, a 40-year veteran of Pratt & Whitney Canada who has led the company since 1985, plans to step down as chairman and CEO in April. He will be succeeded by Gilles P. Ouimet, now president and COO.

Under Caplan, P&WC developed numerous engines for the regional airline industry, the latest of which is the PW150, powerplant for Bombardier's Dash 8-Q400, at 78 seats the largest of the Dash 8 twin-turboprops, all of which are P&WC-powered. Caplan also was responsible for development of the PW100/200/300/500 turboprop and turbofan engines. With annual sales of $2 billion, P&WC is a wholly owned subsidiary of United Technologies Corp.
