RAA wants general fund contribution restored.(Regional Airline Association)(Brief Article)(Statistical Data Included)

RAA reiterated its strong support for fully allocating the Airport and Airways Trust Fund and cautioned against removal of the general fund contribution toward FAA's annual budget during a legislative briefing at its fall membership meeting near Washington, D.C. The association also opposes a proposal in the House of Representatives to double the passenger facility charge next year from $3 to $6 per traveler.

RAA President Walt Coleman was succinct about RAA's legislative priorities: "We want the Trust Fund off budget, we don't want the PFCs to go up and we want the general fund contribution to continue."

In past years 25-30% of FAA's annual budget came from the general fund, but Congress eliminated that contribution from the already-passed $44 billion DOT appropriations bill for FY2000. …
