Nine British airlines formed a consortium to consider putting in a bid for the UK's National Air Traffic Services when the government fob lows through with its highly controversial plan to semiprivatize the organization. The nine, motivated by fears that a privatized ATC system would be less safe, are British Airways, Virgin Atlantic, British Midland, easyJet, Britannia, Air 2000, Airtours, Flying Colours and Monarch.
