Comair and management request mediation.(National Mediation Board requested for pilot negotiations)(Brief Article)

ALPA-represented pilots at Comair, a Delta Connection carrier, and management have sought mediation from the National Mediation Board in their contract talks. The two sides have been negotiating since April 1988.

"The issues that we face in negotiations with management are, quite frankly, both numerous and consequential to both sides," said Richard deLagarde, chairman of the ALPA unit at Comair. "It has become clear to all concerned that if we can benefit from the assistance of a mediator, we should not delay in seeking that help."

Comair also expressed optimism. "We will continue to work toward resolving our differences with the pilots to attain a new pilot contract that fulfills their needs and at the same time gives us the flexibility we need to maintain Comair's leading edge in the airline industry," said Don Osmundosn, VP-flight operations. …
