Illinois airport asks DOT to prohibit Eagle from moving O'Hare slots.

Moline/Quad City Airport has asked DOT to prohibit American Eagle from transferring O'Hare International Airport slots now used to serve Moline and the surrounding communities. American Eagle planned to discontinue Moline O'Hare service at the end of July.

"This action on the part of AMR appears to be part of a wider strategy that has already adversely affected a number of small and midsize [US] airports," the filing by the Metropolitan Airport Authority of Rock Island County, Ill., states. It goes on to claim that AMR has pulled O'Hare service from other small airports, transferring those slots to serve larger cities from O'Hare.

The filing points to the fact that AMR has re-entered or plans to reenter O'Hare-Baltimore. …
