From turbulence sensors to APUs, AlliedSignal Aerospace continues to offer new and improved products to the airline industry

What a difference a few weeks make! A case in point is AlliedSignal's all-day media briefing in early May that focused on the latest realignment of the $7.5 billion Aerospace division. Chairman and CEO Lawrence Bossidy had ordered the "washing" of the division to make it more efficient, and the company wanted some ink for its efforts.

Now, Aerospace most likely will have to be rewashed and double-rinsed as a result of the corporation's recent surprise announcement that it is buying Honeywell.

But even with the proposed merger, there are new technologies at Aerospace that are likely to be developed fully by teams led by Robert D. Johnson, a 30-year industry veteran who was tapped in April to be president and CEO of Aerospace. Johnson will remain with the combined company that will be, called Honeywell.
