An 'alliance for the millennium?'.

The creation of a new global airline alliance bedrocked by Delta Air Lines and Air France may not live up to Delta Sr. VP-Sales and Distribution Vince Caminiti's catchy description but it certainly offers a potentially powerful combination, catapulting Delta from an alliance also-ran into the front ranks of global partnerships. As Delta CEO Leo Mullin told ATW, "it's right up there, by any dimension." The June 22 agreement between the carriers "lays the foundation for a major global alliance, to be announced by the end of the year," according to the airlines. AF Chairman Jean-Cyril Spinetta forecast that the affiliation will add Ff1 billion ($150 million) to AF's result within two to three years. …
