Japan Airlines earned [yen]26.3 billion ($219 million) in the year to March 31, compared to a loss of [yen]94.2 billion in the prior year which included one-time charges of [yen]171 billion to write off losses from associated businesses and to clear its accumulated deficits. Current-year results "reflect the sluggish economies in Japan and Asia, offset by the healthier economic conditions of Europe and the US," the airline said.
