A new owner and a growing need for flight crews has made Pan Am International Flight Academy a leader in third-party training

Miami-based Pan Am International Flight Academy has come a long way since ATW last profiled the company in our pages (ATW 11/94). At that time it had big plans but little money with which to mount an aggressive expansion of its training services.

That changed last August when Boston-based J.W. Childs Associates, a well-heeled private investor group that focuses on growth companies, acquired PAIFA, Childs "came with plenty of financing and said, essentially, do what you need to do to grow," remembered COO Vito Cutrone.
