Even in sunny Phoenix, RAA members won't be able to block out the memory of the meddlesome U.S. Congress

A fistful of passenger rights bills, the proposed five-year FAA budget, Y2K compliance, ATC modernization and GPS for Regional airlines are but a few of the topics to be discussed during RAA's three-day annual convention May 9-12 at the Phoenix Civic Plaza.

In a closed-door session on opening day, the President's Council will hear about several proposed passenger rights bills now before the U.S. Congress and their potential adverse effects on the airline industry. "Right now we have three U.S. House bills, a Senate bill and one offered by the Clinton Administration," said RAA President Walt Coleman. "The penalizing aspects of these bills are disturbing. …
