FAA proposed a damage-tolerance-testing rule that would apply to U.S.-registered Part 121 and Part 135 aircraft 14 years old and older. Air taxis and cargo carriers would be exempt from the proposed rule.

Based on the Aging Aircraft Safety Act of 1991, the rule would require periodic damage-tolerance-testing of critical aircraft components and reviews of maintenance records. …
