Bombardier wins largest CRJ order ever.

Northwest Airlines' $1.3 billion order for 54 Canadair RJ-200LRs represents the largest deal ever for the division of Bombardier Aerospace and an opportunity for Northwest to better utilize its Regional airline partners. GE Aircraft Engines, whose CF34 powers the CRJ, valued its portion of the order at more than $500 million.

Deliveries of the 54 aircraft are scheduled to begin in April 2000 and continue to mid-2004. Northwest also secured options for up to 70 additional CRJ-200LRs.

Northwest said the RJs will extend its ability to serve new markets and to provide improved service to existing points. The question of which Northwest Airlink will fly the 50-seat jets remains unanswered. …
