Delta's ASA acquisition is part of the growth plan.

Delta Air Lines' announced acquisition of Atlanta-based Delta Connection Atlantic Southeast Airlines for around $700 million was a strategic move to protect the feed at Atlanta and grow its Regional partner, says Delta CEO Leo Mullin.

"ASA is an extremely important feed for us in the Southeast, and with our capital ASA will be able to exercise options on several more regional jets," Mullin said following a keynote address at a recent conference in Washington, D.C., co-sponsored by ATW and Global Aviation Associates (see article, p.33). Regional jets now comprise around 20% of ASA's fleet. Delta since has received clearance from the U.S. Federal Trade Commission for the acquisition. …
