Air New Zealand.(expects improvements on second-half 1998 earnings results)(Brief Article)

Air New Zealand remains confident of turning in a satisfactory full-year result despite a disappointing 1% increase in net earnings to NZ$82.8 million ($44.3 million) for the first half of 1998-99. ANZ has limited its exposure to Asia by reducing capacity by 16.5%. Passenger numbers fell accordingly, with a 17.8% decline in international traffic and a 9.7% drop on domestic routes.

Load factors, both locally and overseas, slipped by 1%. …
