FLS: By the numbers.

Servicing a mixed fleet of around 180 airliners belonging to an extensive portfolio of operators ranging from majors to small start-ups provides a considerable challenge to FLS Aerospace in terms of inventory control. From its main facilities at London Heathrow and Stansted airports--the latter its headquarters site--and Manchester, the company keeps track of some 440,000 part numbers plus 59,000 allowable alternative replacements.

All of these are consumables, used in FLS's main business of servicing aircraft in hangar or on line at numerous airports in Europe, stock worth some [pounds]15 million ($24 million). It also has a thriving business in rotables, with a stock worth more than $200 million in its Heathrow distribution center. …
